The history of the city dates back to antiquity; it began to turn into a large Mediterranean port in the 10th century, gaining independence by the beginning of the 12th century.

The city has its own airport named after Christopher Columbus, which is located 6 km from the center, planes from it fly to more than 600 destinations around the world.

Focaccia is the best for a bite to eat; establishments that prepare Italian bread in different versions are located almost at every corner. A visit to the Pan per focaccia focacceria at Via San Lorenzo 22r is recommended, the seafood is at Antica Friggitoria Carrega in the Old Port, and real Italian ice cream can be found at Viganotti.

Yacht charter in Genoa is easiest at Porto antico di Genova. The port is over 22 km long along the coast and has four main entrances, five berths for cruise ships, and 13 for ferries. You can rent a boat or moor your own at several berths - "Marina of the Exhibition Center" (305 seats), "Marina Mala Vecchio" (160), "Marina Pra" (1000), "Duca degli Abruzzi" (350) with a yacht club Italiano, Porto Antique (280), Genova Aeroporto (500).

Genoa has a large number of hostels, hotels and other accommodation. Popular are La Terrazza Sul Porto (Via B. Buozzi 16), NH Collection Genova Marina (Molo Ponte Calvi 5), La Locanda di Palazzo Cicala apartments at 16 Piazza San Lorenzo.

In the Old Port there is not only yacht rental in Genoa available, but also an Aquarium with 12,000 copies, a Mediterranean Museum - Galata, etc.

The city has the only free beach - Boccadasse, for those who prefer active recreation and water sports, it is recommended to visit Bagni Vittoria. The largest recreation area is Spiaggia Albaro.

The main attraction is the Old Town, which consists of narrow streets and alleys. In the historical center, it is worth strolling along Piazza delle Erbe, visiting the churches of San Matteo and San Donato, included in the UNESCO list.
