Accommodations

Dood-a-lee is the perfect boat for the cruising couple or a small family. With standing headroom (rare in a boat this size), 6 bronze opening port lights with screens, 6 lights in cabin, 12v DC cigarette lighter adapter for charging devices, two comfortable settee berths and a quarter berth, alcohol stove, a deep icebox, pedestal mounted table, a spacious head with holding tank and two forward hanging lockers, one with shelving, we have very comfortably cruised the Long Island Sound. Sleeps 4.

The Dood-a-lee is a 1983 Cape Dory 25D, ready for her next adventure. She has been well taken care of over the years, owned by careful and detail-oriented people. She is one of only 182 made.

The Carl Alberg designed Cape Dory 25D is a solid, blue-water capable cruising boat in a small package, a “pocket cruiser” featured in John Vigors classic book Twenty Small Sailboats to Take You Anywhere. She’s easy to maneuver in small spaces, and the 3.5 draft means you can anchor in small coves away from the crowds. A traditional underbody with a full keel and the propeller in an aperture means you will never snag a lobster pot. The Yanmar 1GM engine is a fuel-sipper and incredibly reliable. One tank of diesel might be all you need for a full season.

Dood-a-lee has a new North Sails genoa (2020) and many extras. Before we put her back in the water after purchase, the entire topside, cockpit and hull were redone and stanchions were reset. She is stored inside every winter. We’ve had many wonderful adventures on this boat and we will miss her.
