DENEB OF RYE, the sleeping beauty
DENEB OF RYE is an elegant 76 ft aluminium ketch of outstanding quality. She was designed by the internationally renowned naval architect Henry A. Scheel and built in 1995 by the equally renowned Dutch ROYAL HUISMAN Shipyard.
Her beautiful sleek lines, her clipper-bow and elliptical stern, and the traditional varnish on deck, give her the elegant appearance of a classic sailing yacht, but no compromise has been made to providing all the modern comforts both on deck and down below.
The furling head and staysails, the hydraulic boomvang and backstay adjuster, together with a powered Lewmar winch package makes her easy to handle for two good sailors, without crew. According the owner, it is even easy to handle her by one person.
With extensive trips to Brazil, the Caribbean, the Galapagos Islands, Tahiti and many other exotic places, she has proved her seaworthiness. The yacht is well equipped with an enormous amount of spare parts and tools, which provides all the facilities to sail in remote areas. She’s safe, with watertight engine room, forepeak and lazarette.
Her actual owner is an experienced offshore yachtsman and has in the past 20 years always taken perfect care of his yacht. DENEB OF RYE has undergone a thorough refit in 2003 at Royal Huisman Shipyard. Altough she was in perfect technical condition, Huisman checked everything and replaced what ever necessary : masts were pulled, removal, inspection and re-installation of all fittings, hull inspected and paintwork, teak checked.
Total cost of the refit was approx. 400.000 €.
After the refit, Deneb was used 2 times for about 3 months and placed then into winter storage end of season 2005 inside the climatized shed until present. Because of their age the owners have purchased a Motor Yacht after their sailing adventure but did not want to sell DENEB OF RYE at that time.
Hence, her technical and cosmetical condition is excellent and only minor works will have to be done. All systems are preserved or winterized and are tested from time to time.
DENEB OF RYE is the perfect yacht for luxurious blue-water cruising in total comfort and safety and is a fantastic opportunity for a discerning sailor who’s searching for a yacht without crew.
