Walk Around the Deck
Boarding Restless on the starboard side just forward of the cockpit you notice that the cabin top is clear of lines leading back to the cockpit. All the halyards are trimmed at the mast with 5 Lewmar winches and cleats mounted on the mast for halyards and reefing. The Mainsail is cleanly contained in a Doyle "Stack-Pack" with lazy jack lines that can go forward when sailing. Also mounted on the mast is a winch handle holder and stoppers to hold the halyards and for quick release. There are line bags for stuffing extra lines out of the way and keeping things in order. On either side of the mast is a dorade for cabin ventilation. The forward hatch is large enough for pulling sails out of or stuffing below, also for great ventilation and light when moored in a quiet cove. The wood handrails are beautifully varnished.
On the bow is a Lewmar windlass with 2 cleats (one on either side). A solid fitting for attaching miscellaneous gear (fore guy, inner stay, staysail tack). A bow dorade and a bruce anchor fits snugly into a bow fitting which minimizes the overhang off the bow of the boat. A Harken furler rolls up the genoa inside the bow pulpit. There's a Carbon Fiber spinnaker pole and a reaching strut for close reaches resting in deck mounts on the port bow. There's short track on starboard and port for smaller jib trimming. The primary genoa tracks are mounted on the toe rail on either side.
Moving into the cockpit the primary Lewmar 52 self tailing winches are well forward while the secondary winches are well aft for easy access to the helmsman or crew. Beautifully varnished teak coaming and cockpit locker cover seats nicely accents the traditional look without overloading the varnish work to be maintained. The Edson pedestal is aft in the cockpit far enough to leave room in the cockpit for the crew to do their work and not too far to cramp the helmsman in. The wheel is large enough to easily reach when sailing from either side and comfortable to sail when standing behind it. There's a booster platform for the vertically challenged to see over the cabin top. The helm pedestal has the required cup holders and a beautiful folding cockpit table for entertaining or dining in the cockpit. In addition, there are 2 external cockpit speakers for entertaining. The turning blocks just outside the cockpit can lock the line in place with a quick tug. There is a bimini designed to cover the cockpit and a connector which attaches the bimini to the dodger in inclement weather.
A Raymarine chart plotter and auto pilot are mounted at the helm with a compass and engine controls. In a locker on the starboard side of the helm station is the VHF radio and windlass control switch. Just aft of the cockpit is the traveler with secondary winches on port and starboard with mainsheet and tweeker lines for trimming the mainsail perfectly when on the wind or trimming the spinnaker or other sails . Behind the traveler is the lazarette hatch, adjustable back stay, and 2 dorades for ventilation. The radar, SSB antenna, VHF antenna and other equipment are all mounted on a stainless post connected to the back stay.
In addition to storage space in the lazarrette, on either side of the cockpit are large lockers for dock lines, spare anchor, and other gear and there is limited access to the aft of the engine and transmission. Engine gauges and stop button are on the front of the cockpit. Raymarine multi gauges for wind direction, wind speed, speed over the bottom, etc are mounted on the bulkhead port the port side of the companionway.
Also on the port side of the cockpit is access to a manual emergency hand pump.
Walk Around Below
Before going below, the companionway has multiple options for companionway slides or doors. Standard teak slides, plastic (Starboard) slides, or beautiful teak doors with windows or screen inserts on pintles and gudgeons, and a selection of other screen options.
Stepping down the companionway on port is the galley single lever sink (with a foot pump spigot option) with the large refrigerated double fold lid icebox and cabinet space. Along the bulkhead over the galley counter is a bracket holding 2 flashlights, a fire extinguisher, and wood brackets to hold 8 large plastic glasses, 4 Coffee mugs, and 3 assorted knives, and a paper towel holder. Overhead is a galley fan and light also lighted by two large windows which is the Philip Rhodes 41 design look that also gives an easy 6' 4" clearance below. (Headroom forward in the cabin is 6'). Just forward of the refrigerator is the 3 burner galley Force 10 stove and oven with open shelving behind for convenient storage of pots and pans, etc.
Forward of the galley on port is the dining table and "L" shaped seating area around the table. Again, there are multiple configurations for this dining table and seating area including raising it up out of the way, allowing for a large double bed, or opening the table up all the way to feed up to 6 or 7 people comfortably.
As part of the table against the bulkhead are several shelves for books or dining accessories. There's also a fan and an opening port. Behind the seat are additional storage lockers and a reading light, speakers for the stereo and a 110 electric outlet.
Moving forward on port is the head. Ventilated by an opening port and one of the dorades on the cabin top. Single lever pressure spigot with a foot petal option for the sink. 110 outlet, tooth brush holders, soap dish, shower control, shower curtain, Paper towel holder, towel rack and mirror. Obviously a toilet paper holder and Raritan head. The holding tank is New in 2022.
Forward of the head on port is the doorway to the forward cabin The door for the head can also close off the forward cabin. Just forward of the head is a small locker, 2 drawers, a shelf, and upper locker. A reading light, a fan, and shelf along the port side for assorted small items over the comfortable twin berth that can accommodate multiple Vee inserts and cushions to make a large or huge double bed over additional storage lockers and cabinets.
Forward of the Vee berth are the anchor locker doors and just to starboard is an opening for storage of longer items such as full length battens. On the starboard side over the bunk is another shelf for accessories and a reading lamp, fan and speaker. Currently the windlass remote control is stored on the starboard side of the forward cabin to allow easy access to the foredeck when lowering or raising the anchor when on the bow. On Starboard opposite the head is a locker for hanging gear and another locker with the air conditioning compressor and thermostat.
Moving aft back into the main cabin is a small shelf with drawers and a locker under, air conditioning ductwork, Pioneer stereo system, and a cabinet just forward of double bunks one reading light, speaker and small shelf with cabinet over the lower bunk are 3 storage lockers. Just aft of the bunks is a storge locker with a shelf just forward of the Nav Station.
The Nav Station is set up to accommodate multiple electronic devices of your choice. Currently using Raymarine Radar and Navigation equipment. There is a Raymarine multigauge and Garmin GPS. There is a shelf designed for a laptop computer, light, 12 volt outlets, pen and divider holder, fan, reading with red light. SSB, ICOM VHF, Battery power monitor, LP Gas switch, and engine hour counter. Under the counter behind the Nav Station is the freezer compartment. Over the SSB and VHF mounted on the bulkhead is the main circuit breaker panel all clean and neatly organized with a voltage meter. There's an engine hour meter reading 4629.35 hrs. an air conditioning switch, shore power/Off/Inverter switch, AC electric panel, and a monitor for the refrigerator and freezer.
Batteries are under the Navigator's seat.

Restless is the winner of the Newport to Bermuda Lighthouse Trophy in 2000. Since that time, the owners have continued to win races and improve the boat. Currently, the boat is ready to race, cruise, or both and in some ways may be better than she was in 2000. The owners have cruised on Restless extensively and added new equipment constantly to maintain the boat to updated status with electronics and comfort features that do not reflect the age of the boat. The varnish is in excellent condition and the boat is in "Sail-Away" condition.
